Anthony Murrell - Director / Curator, stichtingEPISODES & 13ISOLATIONS

Born by the river, in Memphis, Tenn., and with honours in paintings from the Memphis College of Arts, Anthony has had a rather diverse career in the arts. After finishing art school he moved to Syracuse, in upstate New York where he worked as Preparator for the Everson Museum of Art. This provided many opportunities to meet major artists from the New York City area and on many occasions to act as their apprentice while installing their artwork for the museum. Feeling that he was neglecting his painting, the idea came to move from upstate to NYC and pursue a painting career with exhibitions. This was a good idea. Within a year of moving to New York City, he became a framer and archival matter for the Museum of Modern Art, and then in 1982 while working on the largest Picasso retrospective ever, the decision to leave the museum world became final. From then on art, life and survival became the absolute and all else, collateral variables to support that belief. Years later, painting was to find a resting place in his past as most institutions had.
Sugar, cotton, chocolate, tobacco and other agricultural elements replaced his once felt passion for painting. New York was left behind for Amsterdam, Holland.
Presently residing in Amsterdam, he continues to have original ideas and is the founder and director of Episodes, a product art network.

things to do, and, if really there's nothing to do, will always arrange
something...
Be patience with him, he always try not to be so much red and not to fall in
bourdeaux."
